Let me be straight with you: Siquijor is NOT Siargao.

If you're expecting wild beach parties every night, thumping clubs until sunrise, and that full-blown party island energy - you'll be disappointed.

But here's what's actually happening: Siquijor's nightlife is evolving fast.

When I first arrived in 2024, the nightlife scene was basically JJ's on weekends and... that was it. Now in 2026? We've got multiple spots thriving, different vibes for different nights, and an actual party scene that's established itself.

It's still chill compared to other Philippine islands. But it's no longer the "dead after 9pm" island people warned me about.

Let me break down everything you need to know about nightlife in Siquijor in 2026.

Table of Contents

  • The Weekend Kings: Where to Party Friday & Saturday

  • Mid-Week Spots: Monday to Thursday

  • The After-Hours Scene (Late Night Eats)

  • Pre-Party Strategy (Where to Start Your Night)

  • Week-by-Week Nightlife Schedule

  • What's Coming Next

Important Context: We're Talking About San Juan

As always, I'm focusing on San Juan - the main tourist hub of Siquijor.

Other areas of the island? Pretty much dead after sunset. San Juan is where the action is (what little action there is).

The Weekend Kings: Friday & Saturday Parties

JJ's Backpackers 🏆 (THE OG Weekend Destination)

When: Every Friday & Saturday

Hours: Starts early, peaks 10pm-4am

Vibe: Beach party, live music, dancing in the sand

Crowd: Everyone on the island - tourists, digital nomads, locals, expats

This is the OLDESTand most popular party in Siquijor. When Friday rolls around, everyone ends up at JJ's.

JJs is super big... and BUSY
JJs is super big... and BUSY

What happens:

  • Live music until 2am (local bands, covers, island vibes)

  • DJ takes over 2am-4am

  • Dancing with your feet in the sand

  • Cheap drinks flowing all night

  • People from every accommodation converge here

The space: Huge. Like, surprisingly big. And it FILLS UP on weekends.

Pricing:

  • Entrance: ₱20 (basically free)

  • Beer: ₱100

  • 1-liter rum & coke tower: ₱500 (getting hammered is budget-friendly here 😆)

Peak time: 10pm-2am is absolute madness. Arrive by 9:30pm to get good spot.

After 2am: Live music stops, DJ continues until 4am. Crowd thins a bit but party keeps going.

Location: 8-minute drive from Eden Coworking in San Juan

My take: This is mandatory if you're in Siquijor on a weekend. It's the one night where the whole island comes together. You'll meet everyone, make friends, and understand why people stay on this island despite the power cuts.

The Wave 🎵 (The New Contender - Best Music on the Island)

When: Friday & Saturday nights

Hours: It peask at 10pm until 1 or 2 am

Vibe: Best music selection in Siquijor, rising fast

Crowd: Music lovers, people who care about DJs and sound quality and some of the most beautiful people in the island

Special: The burger (still the best on the island)

And every Sunday they have trivia nights which is getting more and more popular. And difficult to win,

Fun night at The Wave
Fun night at The Wave

Why The Wave is rising:

  • BEST MUSIC IN SIQUIJOR - Hands down, no competition

  • Proper DJ setup (not just random Spotify playlists)

  • Sound system that actually works

  • Curated music, not just "whatever tourists want to hear"

  • A beautiful spot tropical vibe. Located quite centrally.

  • The burger (people come for music, stay for food)

  • Hundreds and hundreds of different fancy cocktails

Weekend vibe:

  • More sophisticated than JJ's chaos

  • Feet on the sand, beach party vibe

  • Music-first atmosphere

  • Growing steadily every weekend

What makes it special:

Every other bar in Siquijor has okay-ish music. The Wave actually understands music matters. If you've been frustrated by bad playlists and terrible sound systems on the island - The Wave fixes that.

The Wave getting packed
The Wave getting packed

My take: The Wave is proof that Siquijor's nightlife is maturing. It's not just about cheap drinks and beach parties anymore. People want QUALITY - good music, good sound, good vibes. The Wave delivers all three.

Location:

7-minute drive from Eden Coworking in San Juan

Wakanda 💃 (Beautiful People Headquarters)

When: Monday (Latin night), but also busy on weekends. Wednesdays they have an art market. Every day of the week is something different.

Hours: Opens early, gets good around 11pm

Vibe: Bachata, salsa, Latin music, dressed-up crowd

Crowd: The most attractive people on the island. Seriously.

Wakanda Siquijor - Latin Night
Wakanda Siquijor - Latin night

Monday = Latin Night:

  • Bachata and salsa all night

  • Dance floor actually full

  • People who know how to dance

  • More dressed up than typical island bar

Weekend vibes:

  • Different music style

  • Still the "see and be seen" spot

  • Later start (11pm+ is when it gets good)

  • More curated crowd than JJ's chaos

What makes it different:

Wakanda attracts a specific type - people who care about how they look, who can actually dance, who want a more elevated party experience. If JJ's is "everyone dancing in flip-flops," Wakanda is "people actually dressed up."

My take: Go to Wakanda if you want to meet attractive people and actually dance. Skip it if you just want cheap beers and chaos (that's JJ's territory).

Best time to arrive: 11pm or later. Before that, it's dead.

Location:

It's a bit farther away from San Juan centre and 25-minute drive from Eden Coworking in San Juan

CocoRico 🔥

When: Every night, but especially busy on weekends

Hours: Evening until late

Vibe: Modern bar, young crowd, getting busier every week

Special: FREE SHOTS when the bell rings

What's happening here:

CocoRico opened in June 2025 and after initial slow months, it's now PACKED. What started as an empty bar is now one of the essential weekend spots.

Why it's blowing up:

  • The bell system - when it rings, FREE SHOTS for everyone in the bar

  • The typical island bar aesthetic

  • Younger crowd energy

  • Strategic location in San Juan

  • Word of mouth spreading fast

The crowd: Mostly 20s-30s, mix of travelers and digital nomads. High energy.

Best nights: Friday & Saturday (obviously), but even mid-week it's starting to fill up

Location:

6-minute drive from Eden Coworking in San Juan

Mid-Week Nightlife: Monday to Thursday

Siquijor's weekday scene is chill - but there ARE options now.

Monday: Wakanda Latin Night

Best mid-week party option hands down.

If you like bachata, salsa, or just watching people who can actually dance - Monday at Wakanda is your night.

Crowd: Mix of locals who dance well and travelers who want to learn salsa. Actually fun even if you can't dance (people will teach you).

Vibe: More organised than weekend chaos. People come FOR the Latin music.

Tuesday-Thursday: The Bridge & RumBar

The Bridge 🌉

  • Literally a bridge where people gather to drink

  • Local, authentic, cheap

  • Perfect for casual "let's grab beers" nights

  • ₱50-80 beers, super relaxed

RumBar

  • Live music some nights

  • Drinking games

  • Chill island bar vibe

  • Hit or miss depending on the night

Reality: These nights are quiet. Don't expect parties. It's about casual drinks with friends, not raging until 4am.

The After-Hours Scene: Late Night Food

Thirsty Traveller 🌙 (24/7 Savior)

Hours: OPEN 24/7

Vibe: Late-night haven for drunk food

Why it matters: The Only GOOD 24/7 food option on the island

What happens here:

It's 2:30am. JJ's live music just ended. You're drunk. You're hungry. Where do you go?

Thirsty Traveller.

This place has become the unofficial after-hours headquarters. Not because it's fancy or has amazing food - but because it's OPEN when everything else is closed.

The crowd at 3am:

  • People leaving JJ's

  • Night owls working late (hey, some of us work weird hours)

  • Drunk people needing food before going home

  • Insomniacs and jet-lagged travelers

The vibe: Chaotic, friendly, "we're all in this together at 3am" energy

Food: Decent. Not gourmet, but hits the spot when you're drunk and hungry.

My take: This place fills a crucial gap. Siquijor desperately needed a 24/7 option. Now we have one.

Pre-Party Strategy: Where to Start Your Night

Here's the smart play for weekend nights:

7-9pm: Dinner + First Drinks

Option 1: CocoRico

  • Start here, catch the first bell (free shots)

  • Modern vibe, sets the tone

Option 2: The Bridge

  • Cheap beers (₱50-80)

  • Warm up before spending more at JJ's

  • Local authentic vibes

9:30-10pm: Start at Main Spots

Option A: JJ's - Get there before peak, secure good beach spot

Option B: The Wave - Start with good music, move to JJ's later

Option C: CocoRico - Catch free shots, then decide where to go

10pm-2am: Peak Party Options

JJ's: Classic beach party madness

The Wave: Best music, more refined vibes

CocoRico: Social energy, free shot bells

Pick based on your mood. Many people bar hop between all three.

2-4am: Options

Option A: Stay at JJ's for DJ set until 4am

Option B: Move to CocoRico if it's still going

Option C: Thirsty Traveller for drunk food

4am+: Go Home

Unless you're an absolute mad lad, 4am is when the night ends in Siquijor.

Tips for Siquijor Nightlife

1. Transportation is Key

Problem: Most bars are 5-15 min drive apart

Solution: Rent a scooter or buddy up with someone who has one. Most parties have plenty of trikes parked in front of them waiting to take you home. But be ready to pay premium price. You have no other options.

2. Cash is King

Most places don't take cards. Bring cash.

Budget for a big night:

  • Drinks: ₱500-1,000

  • Pre-party drinks: ₱200-300

  • Late night food: ₱200-400

  • Transportation: ₱100-200

  • Total: ₱1,000-2,000 for full night

3. Start Early (Island Time)

Unlike big cities, things START early here.

  • 7pm dinner

  • 8pm first drinks

  • 9:30pm arrive at main spot

  • 10pm-2am peak party

  • 4am bed

If you show up at midnight expecting the party to just be starting... you missed half of it.

4. The Crowd is Small

Reality check: You'll see the same 50-100 people every weekend.

This is good (you make friends fast) and bad (drama spreads quick, everyone knows everyone).

Pro tip: Be cool to everyone. The island is small. Reputations matter.

5. Mondays are Rough

After JJ's weekend, everyone is destroyed on Sunday/Monday.

Don't plan important work for Monday morning. Plan recovery.

6. Make Friends Early

The party scene here is community-based. Make friends early in your trip, and they'll include you in everything.

How: Join SundayZ Club WhatsApp group and meet people before going party

The Honest Reality: Is Siquijor's Nightlife Good?

If you're coming from:

  • Siargao: You'll be disappointed. Way less party energy.

  • Bali: LOL no, not even close.

  • Chiang Mai: More chill than CM's scene.

  • Palawan/quiet islands: Actually pretty good!

The truth: Siquijor's nightlife is enough for most people.

You get your weekend parties. You get some mid-week options. You get community vibes. You get late-night food now.

What you DON'T get: clubs, variety, party-every-night energy, big crowds.

Who this works for:

  • Digital nomads who want SOME social life, not constant parties

  • Couples who want occasional nights out

  • People who prioritize nature/diving over nightlife

  • 30+ crowd who aren't trying to rage every night

Who this doesn't work for:

  • 22-year-olds looking to party hard

  • People who need multiple club options

  • Those who get bored without constant nightlife

  • Anyone expecting Siargao-level energy

Final Thoughts: Set Right Expectations

Siquijor's nightlife is improving, but it's still a quiet island at heart.

Come here for:

  • Nature

  • Diving

  • Waterfalls

  • Quiet remote work

  • Some nightlife on weekends

Don't come here for:

  • Party island energy

  • Clubs and raves

  • Nightlife variety

  • Party every night

The scene is growing. New spots opening. Energy building. By 2026, it'll be even better.

But it will never be Siargao. And honestly? That's okay. Not every island needs to be a party destination.

If you want both nature AND parties: Spend time in both islands. Siquijor for peace + weekend fun, Siargao for full party energy.

If you're okay with chill nightlife: Siquijor works. JJ's and The Wave on weekends is genuinely fun, and the new spots are adding good variety.

Just know what you're getting into. Set the right expectations. And enjoy Siquijor for what it is - a beautiful, quiet island with just enough nightlife to keep things interesting.
